Scotland’s longest established building society has appointed Space Solutions to design and manage the £200K refurbishment project of their new Head Office and Branch in Central Edinburgh.

Scottish Building Society is a traditional mutual Building Society offering mortgages and savings accounts to customers through 5 main branches and a network of offices throughout Scotland.  The new offices in Dalry Road will bring together the 32 employees currently located in two offices in Edinburgh’s West End.

Jim Dunn from Scottish Building Society explains the reasons for the move, “We have occupied two premises in Manor Place for over 16 years and as the Society has grown and developed over this period they no longer suit our way of working.  Following careful consideration we have commissioned Space Solutions as we feel that they can offer a comprehensive solution to ensure that our new home will increase the efficiency and productivity of the business whilst providing an improved environment for both our staff and customers.”

Space Solutions will provide a ‘turnkey’ design package, utilising their in-house professional team of Architects, Interior Designers, Space Planners, Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers to create a working environment that will meet the requirements of the Scottish Building Society.

Clive Cruickshank, Lead Architect on the project for Space Solutions commented, “It is a fantastic project to be awarded as it allows us to demonstrate the full range of services that we offer and we look forward to working with the team at SBS.”

Scottish Building Society expect to move to their new offices in December 2005, following the 11 week refurbishment project which is due to start in September.  The project will be concluded by the Space Solutions Commercial Relocations team who will be managing the relocation of all personnel to the newly refurbished premises.
