| Space Solutions marks decade of growth |
|
Scottish architecture and space planning business Space Solutions is marking its 10th anniversary in style – by achieving a turnover of nearly £10million and anticipating a staff increase of around 20% during 2007. The past 12 months have represented the company’s most successful year it was established in early 1997, with two new offices opening to create a pan-Scotland network and a string of major projects secured. Company founder and Managing Director Steve Judge said: “The past year has been a tremendously successful one for us and provided us with the platform to become further established as a major player in Scotland. “Our turnover neared £10million at the end of the year and with the prospect of a number of major contracts looming over the coming months we expect to experience further growth in 2007. “We’ve achieved year-on-year growth without the need to acquire other businesses, looking instead to build on our capabilities over the years by securing key personnel to broaden our service offering, to the extent that we’re now capable of providing services across the property design and project management spectrum.” Aberdeen-headquartered Space opened an Edinburgh office in 2003 and during 2006 established a presence in both Glasgow and Dundee. It has a total of 85 staff and expects that to grow to approximately 100 by the end of 2007. Space Solutions provides the gamut of services associated with commercial space, but specialises in helping businesses maximise the use of property resources, optimise working conditions and improve productivity. Its goal is to ensure that commercial property supports business needs, with expertise covering key business issues such as accommodation strategy, reorganisation, refurbishment, workplace design and relocation. The skills involved include architecture, space planning, interior design, and project and relocation management. Space secured in 2006 one of its biggest projects to date, the design and project management work for Maersk Oil North Sea UK Limited’s ongoing £7million refurbishment of its five-storey offices in Altens, Aberdeen. The business has also been instrumental in the development of the new 14,500sq ft head office and resource centre for the charity Inspire on the city’s Beach Boulevard, helping the organisation to identify a suitable site and subsequently design and co-ordinate the project. Its Scotland-wide client portfolio also includes BSkyB, Vodafone, Bank of New York and the Scottish Executive. Space Solutions is part of the Chess Group plc, a commercial property specialist which also encompasses Knight Real Estate and Modul8. |
