| Space Solutions predicts record turnover for Edinburgh division |

SCOTTISH architecture and space planning practice Space Solutions is experiencing significant growth in the central belt where unprecedented demand for its contract and professional services is expected to see the Edinburgh office almost double its turnover this year. In the three years since it was established, the Edinburgh practice has seen its turnover rise from a standing start in 2003 to £1.8million in 2006. With a rapidly expanding client portfolio and several key contracts already underway, the company anticipates turnover to be in excess of £3.2million this year. Major refurbishment projects undertaken by Space Solutions in Edinburgh in recent months include work on Tenon’s new premises on Dundee Street and chartered accountants Danzig & Co in Torphichen Street. The company has also recently started work on the design and refurbishment of 17,761sq ft of office space for international investment management group Aberdeen Asset Management’s new offices on Princes Street. Space Solutions, which has also experienced a rapid recruitment rise and now employs 30 people in the capital, is being steered through this period of growth under the leadership of director Derek Binnie. “Edinburgh is currently enjoying a surge in market activity with developments worth around £6billion planned across the city. The traditional sectors – financial services and tourism – remain strong, while in the longer term the prospect of the new trams infrastructure project is set to create new links that will likely boost investment and spur development,” said Mr Binnie. “Our growth has been organic as we have developed the company without having to acquire other businesses, which is tremendously encouraging and demonstrates we are offering a unique service that isn’t being met via traditional suppliers. “We are always keen, however, to build on the comprehensive service we offer our clients and have invested significantly in expanding our operations division which provides relocation, furniture installation, crate hire and move support services. “2007 has already seen continued turnover growth and we have a series of exciting new projects planned that we hope will sustain and enhance that growth, further illustrating our commitment to becoming a recognised and respected player across the whole of Scotland.” Space Solutions already has a successful operation in Aberdeen, is developing its business in Glasgow and recently opened its first office in Dundee. |
