Chamber launches inaugural DriveSafe event
Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with Glenvarigill Honda and Roadwise, are proud to launch their inaugural Chamber DriveSafe event, sponsored by Space Solutions – an event tailored to the needs of the today’s business driver, aimed at providing safer driving through professional assessment and coaching.

A team of professional driving instructors from Roadwise Driver Training, will work with special guest Louise Aitken Walker MBE, former Ladies World Rally Champion, to provide drivers with a range of new skills in both the controlled environment of the AECC car park area and a detailed on road coaching and assessment session on a two-to-one basis.

In addition, Grampian Police will be on hand to provide an overview of road craft and safety matters together with both brake reaction time and seatbelt demonstrations.

The two half day events on 11 May will provide enough time for drivers to genuinely learn new skills yet will not require the investment of a full day.

Geoff Runcie commented “Businesses of every size and shape depend on the mobility of their staff to ensure their business success. This invariably means many tens of thousands of miles are accumulated by North East business drivers in, around and beyond the region.  Driver safety, in what is an increasingly demanding environment, is something which requires skill, patience and experience. This event opportunity should not be missed.”

Steve Judge, MD at Space Solutions is delighted to be associated with the initiative. “Due to the nature of our business many of our staff have to travel further and more frequently, from our relocations team in company vans to architects visiting sites in company cars.  It is everyone’s responsibility to drive safely and by promoting and taking part in events such as Chamber DriveSafe everyone will be encouraged to take more care behind the wheel.”

The event will take place on 11 May at the AECC.  Businesses can book on line at www.agcc.co.uk or contact Chamber events on tel: 01224 343900, email: events@agcc.co.uk.
