| Space team survive Charity Golf Challenge |
A three strong team from Space Solutions Aberdeen office took on the Macmillan Cancer Relief Longest Day Challenge and raised over £1000 for the cancer charity. The challenge involved playing four rounds of golf in one day and was taken on by Steve Smith, Mark Dellaquaglia and Shaun McEwan (pictured right) on Wednesday 28th June at Banchory Golf Club. After a tee-off at 6.15am they played 72 holes of golf, finishing at 9.45pm with only short breaks between each round. The team had aimed to raise over £500 but were delighted to find that their efforts had been rewarded by being able to more than double that total. Team captain Steve Smith said after the event, “It was far tougher than any of us had imagined but we struggled on with various injuries, allergies and general fatigue. However, there was also some good golf played by everyone on the day, contributing to a respectable team score.” The good golf included a hole-in-one achieved by Steve Smith on the 9th hole during the second round, which was the first of his golfing career. Steve added, “The challenge was great and we have managed to raise over £1000 for Macmillan Cancer Relief so a big thank you to our friends, family and colleagues for their support.” |
