BIFM Scottish Conference 31st August 2007
Facilities management professionals, practitioners and service providers from across Scotland will gather in Glasgow later this month to debate the importance of sustainability in the workplace.

The British Institute of Facilities Management Scottish Conference, which takes place at Glasgow Science Centre on August 31, will bring together speakers, delegates and exhibitors from a wide range of public and private sector organisations.

This year’s conference will focus on the theme Reducing FM’s Carbon Footprint: making a real difference to planet, profit and people. Facilities managers attending the one-day event will hear from leading business experts working in the field to help them get closer to achieving sustainability within their budgets.

Scottish architecture, workplace design and space planning practice Space Solutions is promoting the networking part of the conference by sponsoring a dedicated meeting point where delegates can exchange ideas and find out about the latest moves within the industry.

Space Solutions director Derek Binnie said: “Sustainability is an enormous responsibility for facilities managers today, affecting virtually every area of the role. Ensuring sustainable procurement, encouraging recycling, improving waste management, reducing emissions, cutting down on energy usage – the list of challenges is getting longer.

“Networking among industry leaders is key to instigating a step change in business practices and we are delighted to be helping provide a forum for debate and discussion of this important issue.”
