Modern Office Architects - Workspaces for Today

The "modern" approach to offices is one that has changed dramatically over the past few decades.  Contemporary modes of management and the unceasing flow of information, capital and people are factors that impact the architecture of buildings.  Globalisation, driven by technological advancements in communications has meant that the work done by individuals is geographically independent of the people they are serving - whether customers or employers.

Architecturally,  the place of work now has to fulfill the need for working on the hop so to speak.  Look only as far as the hot desking now familiar to many office workers and it's plain to see that contemporary life is exemplified here.  Nobody (very senior management excepted) has their own workspace.  Office or workspace ownership of the style lauded in the first half of the 20th century has been minimised in these working environments.  Workers use desks as an when required; each workstation has everything the worker needs to fulfill their task.  Indeed, in many ways, your workspace is wherever you can plug in your laptop and a phone.

Technology  is a strong driving force in modern office.  Architects, like many other professionals, come to workplace and office building design with different ideas but nowadays, as in the past, much of the design derives from the requirements of the technology used by the workers who will spend their time there.  Here at Space Solutions we believe that architects and designers still need to place emphasis on both the business needs and the comfort and well being of the individuals who work there.
