Environmental Opportunities AssessmentsThe Environmental Opportunities Assessment (EOA) aims to identify the potential for more efficient use of energy, waste and water within an organisation’s operations and to report on options for improvement. Our environmental consultant will have a defined scope as approved by the client and will tailor the assessment to suit an organisation’s aspirations. This ensures that recommendations are realistic and achievable.
Benefits of implementing and following the recommendations of an EOA can include:
- An increase in profits whilst reducing carbon emissions
- Reduced expenditure on utilities
- Reduced expenditure on environmental taxes through improved environmental management
- Improved staff morale, productivity and retention
- Assistance to provide evidence to meeting tendering requirements
BREEAM assessments
BREEAM is the UK’s leading method of reviewing and improving the environmental performance of a building. Space Solutions is licensed to perform assessments for a variety of building types.
An assessment will rate:
- The design of a building against benchmarks related to management
- Energy & water use
- Health & safety of building users
- Pollution
- The location of the office and how this affects staff transportation
- Biodiversity of the site
- Materials and waste management
Most Public sector developments require a BREEAM assessment in order to meet funding criteria. Private developers can gain much needed exposure and increased rental and sale income for new build and refurbishment projects on buildings that are certified.
Energy Performance Certificates
An EPC is a legally required document containing the energy efficiency of a building. It gives a standard energy and carbon efficiency grade from ‘A’ to ‘G’. An A rating shows the building is very efficient while a G is inefficient.
In general, all commercial buildings that are being sold or rented must have a commercial EPC. We have an in-house energy assessor with the knowledge and expertise to help improve on you energy rating even before issuing a certificate.
