Senior Architects - Edinburgh / Glasgow
Due to
continued expansion in the Central Belt Area we have a requirement for
senior architects in both our Edinburgh and Glasgow offices. These positions offer an excellent opportunity to join a
professional and creative team.
You will have at least five
years post RIBA Part III, a high level of both creative and technical
ability and possess proven interpersonal skills. You will be capable of
leading and managing a team to work under challenging schedules to take
projects successfully from inception to completion while ensuring its
success in terms of buildability, budget and programming.

Job Description
Reporting and Responsibility
You
will have autonomy to lead on projects and direct and help develop
fellow staff members, and you will report directly to the Central Belt
Studio Director.
Main Responsibilities
The
appointed candidate will operate as an Architect in a senior capacity
within a relaxed but progressive environment, and will have the
ability to assist in the development of a team of diverse property
professionals through mentoring. Experience in personnel management
would be beneficial although not essential for the current role.
You
will have the experience to take the lead in large and / or involved
commercial projects whilst carrying out all RIBA work stages.
Although each project will provide a wide and varying involvement, the successful candidates will have the broad abilities to:
- analyse
and carry out full appraisals of a building or site, and undertake a
full assessments of a clients’ operational requirements.
- consult with clients regarding the design of their environment.
- undertake designs and articulate and present these clearly to client bodies at every level
- provide advice to a client regarding legislative restrictions and apply for, and negotiate, local authority approvals
- prepare detailed construction drawings and specifications, and advise on programme, budget and constructional practicality.
- coordinate other consultants within the design team.
- advise the client on alternative procurement methods
- prepare and coordinate tender submissions with other members of the design team.
- coordinate and control meetings with clients, design team and contractors
- work closely with contractors to ensure budgetary constraints, programme and build quality are being considered throughout
- undertake
full contract administration duties, including control of budget and
programme. A good working awareness of contract administration
procedures and legislation is essential.

Personal Traits
You
will be a strong all rounder with an emphasis on technical ability and
methodical work, but also possessing a strong visual and design
ability. You will have an interest in, and a track record of,
commercial architecture and interior design.
You will be able to communicate effectively both verbally and visually.
Qualifications and Experience
- BSc / BA (Hons) Architecture
- PG. DIP Advanced Architectural Studies / Masters
- Registered with ARB and minimum of 5 years post qualification experience
- Experience of working in a commercial environment, new build projects.
